Easy, DIY LEGO table

If you are a parent of a LEGO loving kid, you undoubtably understand your kids love for LEGO’S yet as a parent we struggle to keep them organized and contained. This easy DIY LEGO table offers kids a dedicated build space to create LEGO masterpieces at a moments notice along with LEGO storage. It’s a dream come true for both the kids and the organized parents.

Children go through periods of development as they grow and tend to often change interests. Loving parents want to provide and encourage while many other necessities and financial responsibilities must come first. I want to share some cost-effective, budget friendly ideas that could help you make dreams a reality.

There are THOUSANDS of LEGO tables available to purchase online and examples of DIY LEGO tables but no one solution is best for every family and was certainly not for mine. I have decided to create my own LEGO table on a budget and functional for my families needs. Many of the LEGO tables I have seen are not cute, did not fit with home décor or offer the necessary storage needed for our LEGO play and LEGO table. My Handmade LEGO table is still a work in progress but I wanted to share the simple steps for you to save money and make your own inexpensive DIY LEGO table.

1. TABLE

There are unlimited options when it comes to choosing a table. You could purchase a small table, IKEA offers a great selection of affordable small tables but I personally prefer to purchase my furniture second hand. Facebook Marketplace and NextDoor are my favorite for online second hand shopping websites I use often. Our table is a PotteryBarn Activity Table that I scored for ONLY $40.

2. RESTORE

A little TLC goes along way! The table I purchased as was covered Children’s paint, stamps, tattoos and everything else you can imagine. Some elbow grease and light sanding removed most but not all. Next, I highly suggest visiting the discounted paint rack at your local stores. They offer tinted paint that someone did not purchase. Colors vary of course, some off-the-wall colors as well as modern colors you may consider for your project. You can save money and purchase at a discounted price as low as $1 for 1 gallon. I often visit paint discount racks so my personal paint closet and inventory is extensive. For this project, I happen to have the white paint color for our DIY LEGO table. Please remember, Satin paint is better than flat paint if they need to be cleaned regularly.

3. LEGO BASE PLATES

LEGO Baseplates are the perfect starting point for building, displaying and playing with LEGO creations. The LEGO baseplates make a great and useful addition to your LEGO collection and keep the LEGOs organized as your child builds their favorite sets and figures. LEGO baseplate sets come in different sizes and colors. The most common is 10×10 or 15×15. Be creative and use the color palette for different scenery, such as blue for water, green for landscape, etc. Shop LEGO base plates on AMAZON and Target.

4. STORAGE

It is possible to have kids, a clean house and be organized all at the same time. If your home is like mine, the leader of the messiest and least organized space in your home is your child’s play area. I find myself shutting the door and forgetting about it but that organizing plan isn’t the answer. Kids toy storage options are endless and there are so many DIY organizing solutions.
